Phil Burdette

For over two decades, Phil Burdette has been a results-driven leader in the fields of defense, law enforcement, security, policy, and strategy. As both a uniformed and civilian leader, Mr. Burdette has been a nationally recognized executive in both Homeland Security and Defense who excels at envisioning, managing, and delivering on national-level priorities and plans, and in designing strategies to measure and accomplish them.
 
While working for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), he held a variety of posts and led Homeland Security efforts and regional security activities for the National Capital Region and for the states of Maryland and Delaware.  He also served as one of TSA’s standing incident and crisis managers for contemporary and evolving international security incidents.
He was a key author of Washington, DC’s, approach to subway and mass transit security. He designed and implemented the multi-jurisdiction approach to securing these systems, most notably through nationally recognized intermodal security programs. In addition, he has led transportation security efforts for events ranging from nuclear summits to the evacuation of US citizens from the Middle East during times of unexpected fighting.
 
In these roles for the TSA, he was responsible for the training and performance of over 500 uniformed transportation security Officers at the USA’s 22nd largest airport. He also oversaw transportation security, credentialing and training of transportation workers and cargo security workers for the Port of Baltimore, the USA’s 16th largest Port.
 
Additionally, he served as the government official who oversaw Aviation Security Regulatory Compliance for the states of Maryland and Delaware, including the Presidential Aviation fleet. In this Compliance function, he was responsible for ensuring the training and credentialing of the Regulatory Inspector workforce throughout those states. 
 
Mr. Burdette served as a US Marine and has a degree in International Affairs from the George Washington University.  He has also graduated from resident programs at the Federal Executive Institute, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the Marine Corps University.
