Mr. Mark Whittington is a Consultant at Command Group. Mr. Whittington has served the public sector for over twenty years and has become an expert in enabling technology to aid governments and organizations in meeting their missions, both nationally and internationally. He is a leader in his field and truly understands the mission, challenges, ecosystems, and technological landscapes that can both support and hinder government agencies as they consume technology and deliver capabilities in order to protect citizens.
Most recently, Mr. Whittington served as the General Manager of World Wide Public Safety and National Security (PS&NS) for Microsoft. In this position, Mr. Whittington oversaw the police, defense, national security and intelligence, criminal justice, fire, rescue, and disaster response markets. As General Manager, he was the face of Microsoft’s multi-billion dollar PS&NS business to ministerial-level contacts across the world. Before assuming this role, Mr. Whittington served as Microsoft’s Senior Director of Homeland Security Services and held executive responsibility for numerous critical engagements across the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He also was an integral player in leading Microsoft’s efforts for creating and executing disaster response strategies and protocols in the aftermaths of the Haitian Earthquake, the Japanese Tsunami, the H1N1 Pandemic in Mexico City, and numerous hurricanes, including Hurricane Sandy.
Prior to his tenure at Microsoft, Mr. Whittington founded and led the Homeland and Justice consulting practice for the Oracle Corporation to serve the incipient Department of Homeland Security. There, Mr. Whittington played a key role in developing Oracle’s Hurricane Katrina Response Strategy in coordination with the U.S. Government.
