Mr. Michael Harris is the Security Manager of Command Security Services, a Command Group company which provides uniformed security personnel and related services to public and private sector clients. He has thirty years of active duty experience with the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Chief Master Sergeant, performing in leadership and management roles in the areas of installation, physical, personnel, and industrial security.
Prior to leaving the military, Mr. Harris served as the Security Forces Manager for the Air Force’s 9th Security Forces Squadron, managing the security and law enforcement operations for a unit of over 325 military and civilian personnel. As the Senior Security Forces enlisted leader, Mr. Harris was also responsible for managing the deployment of manpower and other resources as well as ensuring appropriate staffing was executed to maintain the integrity of mission capabilities.
While deployed to support U.S. Military operations overseas, Mr. Harris served as the Superintendent for Security Forces for the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). In this role, Mr. Harris assisted in the operational planning and personnel training for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) security operations in Germany. He was responsible for overseeing programs providing training, sensor management, plans and programs, and combat arms expertise as well as integrating non-security forces personnel into physical security plans and operations. While overseeing these security operations and training programs, Mr. Harris also served as the Air Force’s liaison between U.S. and German military personnel and advised on force protection requirements and policy changes to improve counterterrorism operations and address evolving security threats.
While serving in Europe, Mr. Harris also served as the Security Forces Operations Command Inspector for the USAFE Inspector General. In this role, he was responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting safety and security, unit compliance, and operational readiness inspections and working closely with U.S. and host nation personnel. Mr. Harris also served as the Manager of Nuclear Security, developing and guiding nuclear security policy for USAFE nuclear forces as well as providing assessments and evaluating security and defense operations for all USAFE main operating bases, munitions support squadrons, and designated NATO main operating bases.
