Joseph is an Associate at Command Group and with his diverse background that reaches both in government and academics, he is fully suited to manage a diverse portfolio of project clients. Professionally, Mr. Tawney has served in numerous positions in Washington. He has built a foundation from his experiences in roles at government offices such as the Office of Management and Budget and the U.S. House of Representatives that gear him for his role at Command Group.
Before joining Command, Mr. Tawney was previously a Budget Specialist at the Office of Management and Budget. He supported processes related to collection and compilation of financial information that helped produce the President’s Budget. In addition, he composed high-level documents to be used for disparate purposes such as Director’s Review and scored Congressional appropriations in relations to the President’s Budget.
At the same time, Mr. Tawney interned at The Hudson Institute, where he researched critical national security issues, analyzed complex international strategies, conducted primary source analysis and wrote reports on these topics for high level staff on a variety of defense-related topics.
Mr. Tawney graduated summa cum laude from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in organic chemistry. In May of 2018 he will complete his Masters in International Relations – U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security, with a focus on Latin America. He is accomplished in the academic sphere, having published in several peer-review journals and has been the recipient of numerous awards and research grants in both his Undergraduate and Masters programs.
