border management

overview

Picture
As both the primary demarcation line of a nation’s sovereignty and the first point of entry and inspection for all goods and travelers, effective security and management of borders is an intrinsic component of national security.

While in government, the Command Group’s experts spearheaded the creation and growth of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the United States’ first integrated border security organization and now the nation’s largest law enforcement agency. Today, our team members utilize their knowledge and experience to assist a diverse array of customers in the border, customs, and immigration mission spaces. We work with U.S. and international government authorities to build border security, immigration, and customs capabilities and ensure the integrity of national borders, as well as manage the efficient flow of commerce. We also support an array of private sector providers of border-related products and services seeking to engage with customers in the border marketplace as well as shape the public policy dialogue on border-related issues and programs.

Border Security

A fundamental responsibility of government is the maintenance of secure borders to protect citizens, institutions, and critical infrastructure from external threats. Each border security scenario is unique—differing geography, threat spectrums, resource levels, and cultural contexts necessitate intelligent deployment and training of personnel, utilization of technology, and security infrastructure.

Our border security experts help governments worldwide to analyze their border security posture, operations, and personnel and craft solutions that best fit the challenges they face on their borders. Likewise, our unmatched experience helps private sector vendors better understand the technology and service needs of border security agencies and develop solutions which are best suited to assist.

Immigration

Modern means of travel, ever-changing migratory and economic patterns, and sophisticated criminal and terrorist enterprises demand that responsible government agencies have the capacity to effectively manage and monitor individuals' entering, exiting, and traveling through their territory. Advances in passport control systems, biometrics, personnel development programs, targeting, and intelligence methods should combine to create a robust immigration system that facilitates legitimate travel while protecting against threats. Our immigration specialists work with a range of clients around the world seeking to improve their immigration architecture. We also assist private sector vendors in the immigration technology and services marketplace to develop and demonstrate their solutions to target customer groups and advocate positions before key legislators.

customs

At land, air, and sea ports around the world, trillions of dollars of outgoing and incoming goods and cargo form the lifeblood of the global economy. Simultaneously, these locations are also funneling points for drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods and other contraband that have the potential to undermine public safety, national security, economic vitality, and human health. The Command Group helps customs agencies worldwide develop and implement effective and innovative strategies and capabilities to simultaneously enhance lawful trade and effectively combat illegal smuggling. We also work with leading providers of security technologies and solutions as they strive to support customs missions worldwide.
