Mr. Bruce Bowen is a Senior Advisor at Command Group. Mr. Bowen has held senior leadership positions in government and the private sector for the past 40 years and is a recognized leader in the fields of security, protection, and law enforcement training.
From 1997 to 1999, Mr. Bowen served as the Deputy Director of the United States Secret Service (USSS), where he was responsible for planning, developing, and implementing all major policies and programs of protective, investigative, and support activities within the Secret Service. Mr. Bowen began his career in federal law enforcement as a Secret Service Agent and before being named Deputy Director held several key positions including the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Presidential Protective Division (PPD), the Secret Service detail charged with the direct physical protection of the President of the United States, First Lady, and family members of Presidents George H.W. Bush and William Clinton. Mr. Bowen was also the Assistant Director, Office of Investigations and led the Special Investigations and Security Division of the Secret Service.
Most recently in government, Mr. Bowen served from 2003 until 2007 as the Assistant Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), the primary training facility for U.S. federal law enforcement agencies, where he was charged with developing and implementing plans to deliver the highest quality training to over 13,000 students annually from 83 organizations. Mr. Bowen also oversaw the construction of the counterterrorism training facility and held numerous other leadership positions during his time at FLETC. Moreover, he helped stand up the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as a Deputy Associate Undersecretary responsible for establishing training standards for over 50,000 security screeners during the federal government’s takeover of airport security following September 11th.
Mr. Bowen is a U.S. Army Veteran and served two combat tours of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous valor and service medals and obtained the rank of Captain. Mr. Bowen is a recipient of the Presidential Meritorious Executive Award as well as the Presidential Distinguished Rank Award.
