Mr. Allan Bedwell is the Chief Operating Officer of Command Security Services, a Command Group company which provides uniformed security personnel and related services to public and private sector clients. He is an innovative executive with expertise in high profile campus security management, large organization management, complex problem solving, high profile public issue management, media communications, large-scale disaster management, advanced technologies, risk management, and community affairs.
Currently, Mr. Bedwell works for Command Group directing security for a major corporate and R&D campus in Silicon Valley. In this role, Mr. Bedwell directs a large team of security experts who provide corporate and physical security for top company executives and a variety advanced R&D teams. Mr. Bedwell also pioneered the development and testing of new advanced security technologies and techniques as well as managed the creation of the corporate security operation and the security team. Mr. Bedwell also brings extensive government experience at both the state and national levels. Mr. Bedwell previously served as the Deputy Secretary for Regulatory Programs and Energy for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. In this position, he served as the chief operating officer for the Department—an agency with over 4,250 employees and a budget of $2.1 billion—and directed all state environmental regulatory programs for air quality, water quality, waste and land management. During his time in Florida, Mr. Bedwell managed the emergency restoration fuel, electricity, water, and sewer systems for 16 million Floridians during the historic and devastating hurricane seasons of 2004 and 2005. He also served as the Deputy Commissioner for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, where—among other responsibilities—he directed the creation of the revolutionary "Environmental Results Program" a comprehensive industrial self-certification sustainability program endorsed by the U.S. EPA and currently used by over 30 state environmental protection agencies. Prior to this role, Mr. Bedwell served as a Program Manager/Policy Analyst for the Executive Office of the President of the United States, where he provided advice and analysis on environmental and energy policy to the President and White House staff. In addition, Mr. Bedwell has a decorated pedigree in the private sector, having served in a number of executive positions at major corporations. These positions include Global Business Strategies Executive at URS Corporation; Vice President and Director at Cantor Fitzgerald; Principal at CDM; and Executive Vice President at EmeraChem LLC. Mr. Bedwell began his career as a Park Ranger at Yosemite National Park with the U.S. National Park Service. He later served as a Regional Planner for the U.S. National Park Service, analyzing land use planning issues for national parks in California, Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. Mr. Bedwell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from Humboldt State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Southern California. |
