Maritime Security, Safety & Domain Awareness

The importance of the maritime environment is growing as the world looks more to our oceans to support global trade, satisfy growing international energy demands, and provide natural resources. Many nations realize that their naval forces, once designed to protect sea lines of communication and project power, must now become like a coast guard capable of protecting natural resources, managing shipping, and defending maritime borders from criminal activity. In the United States, the Coast Guard and Department of Defense are working to improve understanding of the maritime domain so that dangerous anomalies can be detected and preemptive action can be taken in cooperation with other government agencies, international organizations, and foreign naval forces. CCG has extensive experience in maritime training, planning, and law enforcement expertise available to help international naval forces improve coast guard capabilities, assist the private sector in developing technical solutions to maritime challenges, and aid government agencies in improving maritime domain awareness and information sharing.
